Kristen (Hartzell) Zaborowski

Art Teacher
Originally from Erie, PA, Kristen’s love of art started early. When she was in preschool, her teachers encouraged her mother to continue to nurture her art making. Though she has had many interests through the years, art has always been a part of her. Kristen decided to pursue an Art Education degree at Edinboro University of PA. While a student, she also studied “Art and Architecture of Europe” through the University of London, in a study abroad program. Kristen also was one of three women chosen to represent Edinboro University in a Women in Leadership Conference.

After receiving her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Art Education, Kristen moved to Northern VA, where she taught in the Loudoun County Public Schools as an elementary Art Teacher. Over the following decade she also taught in Fairfax, VA and was one of the original teachers at the private school BeanTree Learning in Ashburn.

Kristen moved to Berryville, VA to raise her growing family. She wanted to bring art into the community and started teaching a Parent and Me Little Artist class at the Clarke County Community Center. Kristen also taught a paint night for the Berryville/Boyce Girl Scouts, Clay Pinchpots at the Clarke County Senior Center, summer art classes and a holiday project at Wee Angels Educare Center of Duncan Memorial, and as a Volunteer at DG Cooley Elementary School. Kristen also enjoyed completing a writing for children course through the Institute of Children’s Literature.
